Robert Butler, M.D. is a board certified otolaryngologist head and neck surgeon (ENT) who has a special interest in chronic sinus and ear disease.  Overall, Dr. Butler has a conservative approach to medicine, emphasizes patient education, and involves his patients in medical decision-making.  His recent training has provided him with the most current advances in diagnostics, medical management, and minimally invasive surgery.  This includes comprehensive care for chronic sinusitis, with a special interest in allergic fungal sinusitis and nasal polyps.  For endoscopic sinus surgery, Dr. Butler utilizes computer navigation systems and minimally invasive techniques including balloon sinuplasty which expedite healing and recovery following this procedure. A Coblation plasma wand is a new technology available for tonsil surgery which is capable of decreasing post operative pain.  Dr. Butler treats all aspects of otolaryngic disorders including sleep apnea, chronic ear disease, and thyroid disease/cancer. He enjoys treating both pediatric and adult patients and is associated with many surgery centers and hospitals including Bailey Square Surgery Center, Surgicare of South Austin, Dell Children’s Hospital, Seton Medical Center, and South Austin Medical Center.

Dr. Butler grew up in Austin, where he obtained an engineering degree with honors from the University of Texas.  After finishing medical school at UTMB in Galveston, he completed his training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.  After board certification he completed additional curriculum in allergy and obtained certification from the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.  He offers patients with sinusitis the unique perspective from a board certified surgeon and fellowship-certified allergist.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, Fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology, Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and ENT consultant for BSL Sleep Labs.

Away from the office, Dr. Butler is a Longhorn fan whom enjoys exercise, music, and exploring the Texas Hill Country with his family.  He and his wife with their two children, appreciate living in a city with such a wealth of cultural diversity and outdoor activities.
